If you’re looking for a quick and fun read, please grab a copy of Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn. The book follows a fictional island where they worship the creator of the pangram, “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.” The pangram is attached to a statue, but one day a letter tile falls off, “Z.” The high council rules this as a sign to banish “Z” from the alphabet. As more and more letter tiles begin to fall, fewer letters of the alphabet are available for use. How is the island to communicate? It’s cleverly written and absolutely a refreshing take on fiction. xo Pan

The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. If Charlie never stopped writing letters, I would keep reading them forever.

I dislike being so hipsterly, but I love The Perks of Being A Wallflower.

Dear Bookface,

We have some news. Today, Bookface reached 500 followers.

Now, 500 isn’t really a lot when you think about all the people in the world, all the people in the world that read books, and all the people in the world that read books and have Tumblr. But, this is big to us (and not just in a numerical sense). Over the course of the year, Bookface has grown so much, and we’re glad to have had all of you here with us (whether you just got here, or have been with us since the beginning).

500 is a lot, and I’m happy we could even reach out to 10 people, so, this is really great, yay, and I overuse commas.

My local library had Blind Date With A Book, and I just had to check it out! I ended up with You Don’t Know Me by David Klass. I’m sure it will great to read. Have a wonderful Valentine’s day, bookfaces! Don’t forget to let all the loved ones in your life know that you appreciate and love them. Bookface loves you! xo Pan

officialbookface:

Psst, Bookface.

(We have something to tell you.)

On February 9, 2012, at 10:03PM, Bookface made its first post.

At this moment, that was exactly one year, one day, and six minutes ago. In that time, a lot has changed.

Bookface has grown into something so much more than what Elle and Pan jokingly envisioned one aimless night in a sketchy coffee shop. We have met and befriended so many wonderful people. We have read and learned about so many great books.

so apparently it was bookface’s first birthday yesterday so that’s cool (:

Help. I have a physics final and I can’t get up.
The Elegant Universe, The Hidden Reality, and The Fabric of the Cosmos all by the excellent Brian Greene.
These are really great books if you’re “not a science/math person,” and you get really freaked out on the first day of class when your professor launches directly in, talking about M-Theory and melting black holes and you have NO IDEA what is going on.
(sorry for the grainy quality— my webcam is not excellent).

So today officialbookface suggested to read while jogging in place. I still have way too much energy to read so this is what happened.

Omg, this is like the best bookface ever. A gif!

He sank into the ooze, his arms and legs flailing, trying to lift himself away. But the sticky substance was sucking him down, pulling him with surprising force. His whole body seemed to be held by it, stuck as if in cement, and now it was quivering up, bubbling silently, rising up to his face. I’m going to suffocate, he realized. It’s trying to choke me.

Happy Halloween to all of bookface! I’m celebrating with one of my favourite Goosebumps book, Monster Blood by R.L. Stine. Stay safe, everyone! xo Pan

Yea, i’m kind of lame. :p

Something huge hit the stone floor of the Chamber. Harry felt it shudder- he knew what was happening, he could sense it, could almost see the giant serpent uncoiling itself from Slytherin’s mouth. Then he heard Riddle’s hissing voice: “Kill him.”

When I think of Halloween, I think of chilling ghouls, creepy beasts and monsters, and fantastic wizards… so I thought for Halloween, I have to bookface with Harry Potter! This my one and only copy of a book from the HP series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I love this book- Tom Riddle revealing himself as Lord Voldemort sent chills down my spine when I first read it. Happy (early) Halloween! xo Pan

If you couldn’t tell, that is my 5-minute makeshift Luna Lovegood imitation. :P

Kindlefacing Chelsea Handler’s A Horizontal Life. Chelsea Handler is as hilarious as her life is insanely eclectic and off the charts. I can say that if you’ve seen any of Chelsea’s work (whether on her show, stand-up, etc), this stories in this book won’t surprise you, but that doesn’t mean you still don’t want to know about it. It’s a light and fun read, especially if you’re into these pseudo-memoirs that I’m really into. xo Pan

“It kills me sometimes, how people die.” The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is worth multitudes beyond the best possible things I could ever think to say of it. It has been my favourite read this past summer, and with no doubt in my mind, it has become one of my favourite books in general. No matter what season you read this book in, you will find yourself falling for the characters, the side stories, the hardships, the small details, the big pictures, and all the nooks and crannies tucked away in this book. If you haven’t read this yet, please do yourself a favour and go out and read it.
